We recently learned that the "Q" decided to name an award after Lemieux: the Mario Lemieux Trophy, which will be given each year to the best scorer of the league.
Here's the League's official annoncement:
"The QMJHL is proud to announce the creation of the Mario-Lemieux Trophy, which will now be awarded to the regular season's top goal scorer.
Lemieux played for the Laval Voisins for three seasons, from 1981 to 1984, scoring 247 goals in 200 regular season games.
In 1983-84, he recorded 133 goals and 282 points in 70 outings, two single season league records that still stand today. That season, Lemieux helped the Voisins win the playoff title thanks to an impressive total of 29 goals in 14 games, before losing in the Memorial Cup final."

The QMJHL's commisioner provided to following comments:
"Forty years later, we still remember Mario Lemieux's landmark career in our league. To this day, he still holds many of our league's offensive records, including most goals in a season. Naming the top scorer trophy after him was just a natural choice. It makes his legacy to the QMJHL even more indelible."
As for Lemieux, he had this to say:
"Playing in the QMJHL provided a great foundation for my NHL career. I am deeply honored that the league and its clubs have chosen to attach my name to the scoring championship trophy. Thank you!"
