Today was the day the world found out the fate of Corey Perry. After being placed on waivers yesterday Perry found out if he was going to be claimed or would clear waivers and have his contract terminated.

With Perry's contract set to be terminated he will now become an unrestricted free agent. Although due to the controversial circumstances of his release it is unlikely he gets signed.
Speaking of the circumstances behind his release NHL insiders have found more evidence of what caused his downfall.
Perry Terminated After Incident
According to NHL insider Frank Seravalli sources are reporting that a party with sponsors and team employees in attendance was the setting for the events that led to Perry's release.
According to sources, an alcohol-fueled incident involving Perry was alleged to have occurred during an event that included sponsors and team employees in attendance. It remains unclear what allegedly took place, who witnessed it, and who reported it to the team.
While this still leaves many questions regarding what actually took place it does provide some context. With Perry now out of the NHL we likely won't hear much more about this incident unless Perry himself speaks up.
In other waivers news, it was announced today that Penguins D Will Butcher cleared waivers and will report to the AHL.
