Kyle Dubas Extends His Timeline with the Penguins Before Deciding What the Next Steps Will Be

Back in early December, GM Kyle Dubas clarified comments he made about the team, that the early December road trip through Florida would give him a good idea on the direction of the team.

Kyle Dubas Postpones Making Any Decisions Again About the Direction of The Penguins

The team lost all three of their games on that road trip, which did start in Philadelphia with an OT loss, before Bobrovsky and the Lightning stomped out the Pens 3-1 followed by another 3-1 to the Panthers.

Since then, Dubas softened his deadline on deciding on possible big changes to the team, to around the All-Star break.

On Tuesday TSN analyst Chris Johnston reported that communication with Dubas on what the near future will look like regarding the roster or any changes being made.

Johnston commented;
«On reaching out to him on this day, it doesn't sound like as though that was a hard deadline, that on Jan. 27, he would know that direction, so, Dubas, even after the two games to end the first half for the Penguins, is going to keep watching beyond that point. He insists his team will make decisions for him.»

To me, it sounds like the message the Penguins are sending at the moment is, help. The lost badly in both games in the deserts of Arizona and Vegas. But Johnston reported that the Penguins will not have any answers within a week or two.

So, Pens fans, we will have to continue to sit and wait and see what if any decisions will be made. The fate of Jake Guentzel or any types of changes that could help may or may not be decided anytime soon.
