Major Shakeup Between the Pipes: Has Tristan Jarry Lost His Spot as the Penguins Starter?

It's the kind of hot streak that gives a team a huge boost of confidence. In this case, it's the Pittsburgh Penguins, who are starting Alex Nedeljkovic for the third time in four games!

Riding the Hot Wave

For the first time since the Murray/Fleury tandem era, Mike Sullivan seems to have immense confidence in both his netminders. Rightfully so, Tristan Jarry has .912 save percentage this season, and tonights starter vs the Vancouver Canucks has a .922 save percentage.

In the Ohio Native's last 7 starts with the Penguins, he has had a nearly perfect 5-1-1 record, helping the penguins get 11 out of a possible 14 points! Goalies are hot and cold, but the Penguins must fully utilize and take advantage of this hot streak. Tonight, Mike Sullivan gave him the green light to be the Penguins starter vs the Canucks for a second straight game.

What Glitters, isn't always Gold!

Alex began the season as the Penguins number two in goal, before getting injured for three weeks. He was then sent down to WBS (Pens AHL team) on a conditioning loan, where he netted a goalie goal!

While being deemed as the next big thing in Carolina, he didn't live up to expectations and was dealt in the summer of July 2021, to the Detroit Red Wings for a 3rd round pick and Jonathan Bernier. After struggling in the starter's crease for the Red Wings in the 2021-22 season, he was then spending most of the 2022-23 season in the AHL with the Grand Rapid Griffins.

It was then last July when the Penguins inked him to a one year deal, and since then the 28 year old has been making the most of the opportunity.

Details to follow.
