Media Member Suggests That It Might Be Time to Fire Mike Sullivan
The Pittsburgh Penguins are currently on track to miss the playoffs for the second year in a row, this is the first time since the 2005-06 season where Sid the Kid debuted in those beautiful Penguins jerseys. Sullivan, we appreciate what you've done, but it may be time to step away from the Penguins.
Rick Buker of PenguinsPoop seems to agree.Penguins seem too comfortable
Perhaps we must talk about how the core and their coaching staff are too comfortable with their head coach Mike Sullivan. Besides, Kyle Dubas and Sullivan are practically strangers, it isn't a "hard feeling" moment, even if it was, it is a business and when change is needed, you might need to introduce it. Players like Malkin, Letang and company are feeling way too comfortable with the coach they've had for over 8 years now. It seems like they can just keep getting away with "bad performances" because they have a great relationship with their coach.
Wake up Call is needed
Something needs to change if the Penguins want to avoid golfing at the end of April. There is plenty of options, such as presenting ourselves as sellers at the trade deadline, or resigning their star forward Jake Guentzel and committing themselves to their core. Something has to change, anything. The most common and helpful one may unfortunately have to do with the firing of Mike Sullivan and the rest of the coaching staff. Coaching changes often come with better results, like the Oilers were 3-9-1 and in near-revolt under Jay Woodcroft. They're 24-6 under Kris Knoblauch. The Wild, 5-10-4 under Dean Evason. They're 16-11-1 under John Hynes. Besides, like they always say, all good things must come to an end...
