Multiple Penguins Could Return from Injury Against the Winnipeg Jets

The Pittsburgh Penguins hit the ice, back from the All-Star Break and bye week with some familiar faces practicing again after injury.

The team is ready to go, practicing for the first time after the break, and two players seem posed to return to action. Reilly Smith and John Ludvig were both full participates in the first skate back.

Smith has been out for nearly a full month with an upper body injury, and Ludvig since New Years Eve. Ludvig was sent down to Wilkes-Barre for some conditioning and gameplay, but looks ready to go.


During the first practice it looks like Smith was paired back up with Evgeni Malkin and Drew O'Connor on the second line. Ludvig was working with Chad Ruhwedel to make up the third defensive pairing.

Both players mentioned after practice that they feel good and would be ready to go if the team needs them. Head coach Mike Sullivan labeled both as game-time decisions for Tuesday against the Winnipeg Jets.

In addition, newly signed Jesse Puljujarvi (who received a two-year contract) is also listed as a game time decision. These players could all inject some energy back into the Penguins lineup as they get ready to start the second half of the season.
