It is believed that the Penguins could be on the brink of a rebuilding, meaning that they could decide to trade their top players if they think they'll miss the playoffs.

However, Kyle Dubas could cause another surprise and decide to help his players win now by sacrificing the team's future to get the help they need.

Penguins to Go After Top Defenseman?

A new report suggests that the Penguins could go after one of the most interesting trade target ahead of the deadline: Chris Tanev.

The Flames' defenseman has been involved in many rumours this season, as he'll be a free agent after the current season.

Tanev, 34, could be an interesting addition for the Penguins. His great defensive abilities could go a long way with Letang and Karlsson's offensive prowess.

He currently leads the Flames with 135 blocked shots this season. In Pittsburgh, he'd lead the team, as Ryan Graves blocked the most shots for the Pens with only 89.

In 763 games in the NHL, the defenseman scored 180 points with the Vancouver Canucks and the Calgary Flames.
