The Pittsburgh Penguins have finally shaken up their lineups on their powerplay units. The Penguins have struggled immensely on the Powerplay this season, ranked in the bottom five, with teams like the Blackhawks and Sharks. Today at practice, they moved two big names off the first unit.

Karlsson and Malkin downgraded off first unit

Erik Karlsson and Evgeni Malkin has been moved to the second powerplay unit in today's practice. Malkin and Erik Karlsson have been shaky as of late, putting in questionable performances.

It hasn't been a positive campaign for Malkin. He does have 40 points in 48 games, but his overall play hasn't been great. Mediocre at best. You can look at it with two ways, you can say these guys have been downgraded, or you can say they were put on the second unit to balance out their powerplay and give themselves the best shot at getting successful powerplay production.

Sidney Crosby remains on the top unit alongside Jake Guentzel, Richard Rakell, Reilly Smith and Kris Letang. A new powerplay 1 unit, hoping to end their drought

More details to come.
