Pittsburgh Penguins Make Two Roster Moves

With Reilly Smith out for a while, the Pittsburgh Penguins announced today that they have recalled forward Colin White from WBS, while also announcing that Ryan Shea, defenseman has been sent down.

NHL experience needed for the Pens

If it was a meritocracy, we don't think Colin White would've been the call-up for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The former consistent NHLer is having a rough time in the Penguins farm team putting up only 10 points in 21 games in the AHL. Perhaps the Penguins wanted to go for experience, Colin has played in almost 300 NHL games.

Sam Poulin snubbed

We felt it was long overdue for Samuel Poulin to get an opportunity with the big club after having 9 points in 15 games so far with WBS. The former first rounder seems to have finally gained some confidence in his game and a call-up to Pittsburgh could've benefitted both sides.

However, we'd expect Poulin to get some NHL playing time later on this season especially if the injury bug continues to hit the Pens. Colin White makes sense for the Penguins as he has played in many NHL games in many situations like playing for a contender and also playing on a bottom feeder like the Senators.
