Rivals Recent Play Makes Penguins Path to Playoffs Clearer
We hope the Pittsburgh Penguins have took the most of their opportunity with the All Star break. A time to recharge as they give themselves their final push for the playoffs. They ended the break with 3 points out of 4, beating the Canadiens and losing in extra time vs the surging Florida Panthers.
Opportunity presents itself for the Pens
It seems like a far fetch for the Penguins, sitting 6th in the Metro and 7 points out of the wildcard spot, but it is not as ridiculous as it seems. The Devils and Capitals who are tied with 51 points along Pittsburgh, currently have a game more then the Pens. In fact, the Penguins have the least amount of games played in the Eastern Conference, giving them an edge on everybody. It's not like the Capitals and Devils have played perfect hockey recently either, they remain inconsistent and lack tidiness in their game.
On the other side of Pennsylvania
Their biggest rivals, the Philadelphia Flyers, hold the 3rd place spot in the Metropolitan division. They currently have 58 points, 7 more then Pittsburgh, but ended their final stretch of games before the all star break on a bad note, currently on a 5 game losing streak.
As read on: Penguins have huge opportunity
