Sidney Crosby Included in Major All-Time List

As Crosby heads into the second half of his 19th NHL season, he is still just as prominent a name and player in the NHL as he was back in 2005. He still carries some pull and control in the hockey world this late into a historic career.

Sidney Crosby Ranks 13th This Year Overall, and within the Top 5 for NHL Active Players

According to the Hockey News, who has been doing the rankings now for years, Crosby comes in this year at 13th among the top 100 most powerful and influential people in hockey. This list is not inclusive to just players, as it includes insiders, agents, players, and executives.

The only currently players ranked above him are Austin Matthews (5) and Connor McDavid (9).

This is not the first time Crosby has made this list. Over the 25 year span of the rankings, Crosby has been the highest-ranked active player ever. On the anniversary list, Crosby ranked 10th with only one hockey player above him, Wayne Gretsky (4).

As Crosby closes in on his 20th year in the NHL, his influence has spanned across hockey as a whole. His popularity opened up the game to many more youth leagues in the Pittsburgh area. His Little Penguins Organization through the Pittsburgh Penguins has supplied equipment to many kids 5-9 years old interested in playing hockey. Logan Cooley on the Arizona Coyotes is one example that was inspired and impacted by Crosby, playing in the Little Penguins Organization.

As Crosby moves into his late 30's, he is still one of the more popular and well-known names in the sport of hockey.
