Sidney Crosby's Most Underrated Trait: Expert Provides Insight Into What Makes Him an Elite Goal-Scorer
Sidney Crosby was not drafted because he is an elite goal scorer, a guy that would score 50 a year, but this season, Sid the Kid is making a case for the Maurice Richard trophy, on pace for 52 goals!
Put some respect on Crosby's name
With all the talk for the hart trophy, that should be put aside for now with still half the season remaining. The 36 year old veteran has had an incredible goalscoring pace despite being known for his incredible playmaking ability that got him drafted first overall in the first place. Crosby has 26 goals in 42 games this season, a remarkable pace that seems unsustainable, but he's showing no signs of slowing down.
For reference, Sid has only one 50 goal season. Absolutely mind blowing.
Crosby interview post game
In an interview post game with The Athletic, Sidney Crosby was asked how he managed to score in the top circle. He responded:
I don't really have much of a curve. It's just leverage. Just trying to get under the puck, get low. It's not like I have a big curve and kind of, like, sling it. I've got to get under it.
When Mike Sullivan was asked about Sid's brilliance, this was his response.
«We marvel at what he does,» coach Mike Sullivan said. «We get the best seat in the house. We're right there up close. We watch it every day in practice.
«The biggest thing from my observation, the thing that I admire most about Sid, is his creativity and how he scores goals, and his ability to do it in so many ways. I think he's the best player in the world and has been for a long time in and around the blue paint

There you have it!
Whatever Sid has been doing, it's working. Crosby seems hungrier than ever while the Pens try and push for the playoffs after Crosby missed the playoffs for the first time since his rookie season.
