Sidney Crosby Scores 577 Career Goal to Tie Mark Recchi on the NHL All-Time Scoring List

It was a milestone night for the captain Sidney Crosby. Something to celebrate, in a night where the Penguins lost to the Coyotes 5-2.

This marks the second time that Crosby surpassed Recchi recently. On December 13th in a shootout win against Montreal, Crosby tied Recchi for 13th most points in NHL history, with his 1,533 point.


Recchi played 1,652 games over his career and 389 of those were scored in black and gold. He scored 154 goals for the Penguins while playing parts of seven seasons in Pittsburgh.

Up next for Crosby is Ray Bourque who had 1,579 career NHL points.

Crosby and Recchi played 160 games together when Sid was still early on in his career, through the 2005-2007 seasons. So this milestone was particularly meaningful for him.

As far as all-time scoring list goes, next up will be Jari Kurri who has 601 career goals. At the pace Crosby is playing at he is set to possibly tie Kurri before the season is over.

As he continues to move into the later years of his career, more milestones and achievements could be reached, including his next goal. With the next 5-on-5 tally, Crosby will tie former teammate Mario Lemieux at 16th place overall in even strength goals. Not bad company to keep at all.
