TSN Analyst Drops a Terrible Take Involving Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins

The goal for the Pittsburgh Penguins with Kyle Dubas at the helm was to win now. Win while we have the core superstars still on the team. Win now for Sidney Crosby.

As the 2023-24 season reaches it's mid-way point, the Penguins are struggling. They are not in a playoff spot. It is a contract year for Jake Guentzel and Sidney Crosby is playing some of the best hockey of his career. So, what should Dubas do?

Bryan Hayes Believes that the Pittsburgh Penguins Need to Let Crosby Go

TSN analyst was given a forum to come right out and say it; let him go.

«Get Sidney Crosby out of Pittsburgh,» Hayes said on TSN. «Follow in the footsteps of Tom Brady.»

He is not just asking them to allow Sidney to thrive elsewhere, he is 'pleading' with them to do so.

«He will always be remembered as a Penguin,» Hayes said. «It's him and Mario Lemieux. The two greatest Penguins of all time. He's given everything he possibly could to that franchise. That franchise is no longer repaying him.»

This is not the first time this has been suggested. But like before, it is very unlikely that this would happen. Crosby has a full no-move clause in his contract. Penguins insiders all believe that he will stick around with the team, good or bad.

Crosby is having an MVP level season and is still a threat to have on the Penguins roster. He just needs the support from the rest of the team to play consistently.

Hayes compared Crosby to possibly being the Tom Brady of hockey, going to another team late in his career to win a championship, becoming the best of all time.

«If he follows in the footsteps of Brady, goes somewhere else, wins a Cup, is competitive that is going to make the case for him to get into the top five all time.»

The Penguins made the decision to keep the core players of Crosby, Letang and Malkin around to most likely finish all three careers in Pittsburgh. Could Kyle Dubas have different plans in mind if the Penguins do not make the playoffs for a second season in a row?
