Two additions can improve depth scoring for the Pittsburgh Penguins

The weekend Before the All-Star Break, the Pittsburgh Penguins earned three imporant points and they now sit in fifth place in the Metro. They are only one point behind the New York Islanders and five points behind the Philadelphia Flyers. When Pittsburgh returns from the break, they will face the Winnipeg Jets who are currently 30-12-5 and sit in third place in the Central Division in a race with the Stars and Avalanche.

Penguins need scoring help

In an ideal world, Kyle Dubas gives up future and current assets to address their scoring. Players such as Elias Lindholm, Sean Monahan and Vladmir Tarasenko are names who would come to mind. Again, in an ideal world, we don't live in an ideal world. If the Penguins would've sat more comfortably in the Metropolitan division and sat in a playoff position, then we can talk about giving up assets, but because of them being out of the playoffs heading into the break, giving up assets doesn't seem like the best case for the aging Pens.

Penguins need to callup these two forwards

Why not change things up? Guys like Reilly Smith, Matt Nieto, Lars Eller were brought to address scoring help and provide depth, but haven't lived up to expectations. We know two guys who are eager for a chance with the Big club. 2019 first round pick Sam Poulin is aching for a stint with the Penguins. The forward has 16 points in 23 games with WBS, 11 of them being goals. Another player we think of is the Jesse Puljujarvi, the former fourth overall pick is trying to get himself back in an NHL roster. The opportunity is there, and there is no risk for the desperate Penguins.

More details to come.
