A Look at the Month Ahead for the Penguins

After tonight's OT loss to the Flyers, the Penguins find themselves 6th in the Metro with a record of 11-10-3. Obviously if they hope to make a run in the playoffs they need to start stringing some wins together. Let's take a look at their upcoming opponents.


December 6th vs Tampa


December 8th vs Florida

December 12th vs Arizona

December 13th vs Montreal

December 16th vs Toronto

Realistically, all of these are winnable games for the Penguins if they play to the ability of the roster (not just Sid and Guentzel).

There lies an opportunity to catch up to other teams in the division who have been faltering lately and get within a playoff spot.

Why are These Games So Crucial

The Pens are starting to find themselves in a bit of a hole. Their very mediocre record will not be enough to get them even the second wildcard if this pace continues.

December is so crucial because if the Penguins don't make up some significant ground, they may not be able to get themselves out of this hole.

If the Penguins manage to string a few wins together, things might not be so bleak as there is only really one team who's running away from the competition in the division (NYR).

The most frustrating part about this team is that they should be winning these games, and they just can't seem to put it together night in and night out.
