It's clear this season will go down in the books as the biggest what if. The Penguins hired Kyle Dubas as their general manager this summer and managed to swing a blockbuster for Norris winner Erik Karlsson with hopes of giving the already aging core in Pittsburgh more longevity of being able to compete. Unfortunately, the Penguins may see themselves out of the playoffs and be forced to begin a rebuild. Former Penguins head coach Dan Bylsma shared his insight on a potential rebuild and potentially seeing captain Sidney Crosby leaving the Steel City.

Former Pens coach suggests Crosby move

"We saw Wayne Gretzky move from Edmonton. So the answer is, it can happen. But I have a hard time picturing anything but a Pittsburgh Penguins jersey on Sidney Crosby... He's still playing at such a high level. He's still one of the best players in the game. In my heart I just feel that keeps going with the Penguins."

Although a move regarding Sidney Crosby who is already a 3 time Stanley Cup champion and has spent his whole career in Pittsburgh seems unlikely, the fact that the former coach even brought up the possibility of that happening is quite mindblowing for Pittsburgh Sports.

You can argue that the Penguins would still receive a haul for the 36 year old as he is playing some of his best hockey to date. The only issue here is that in any potential Crosby trade, the captain will have the leverage as he holds a full NMC.

Crazy idea and unlikely, but never impossible as we have seen the Great One change addresses.
