More connections with Mike Sullivan and the Devils emerge

Mike Sullivan may not be the head coach for the Pittsburgh Penguins for much longer. Cryptic rumours surrounding his future likely ending us as the head coach to a rival team, the New Jersey Devils won't die down.

Sullivan has been the head coach in Pittsburgh since December 12th, 2015. Since that time, he's won back-to-back Stanley Cups in 2016 and 2017. Sullivan hasn't led the Penguins to an Eastern Conference Final since winning the 2017 Stanley Cup and hasn't won a first-round series since 2018.



In back-to-back seasons, Sullivan and the Penguins have missed the playoffs. While the careers of Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang are winding down, Sullivan's tenure with the Penguins might be done soon.


However, Monday reports from TSN mentioned that New Jersey will lose their interim coach Travis Green to the Ottawa Senators. This leaves the head coaching job in New Jersey, a heavily appealing one too, wide open.

After the termination of associate coach Todd Reirden last Friday, it added gasoline to the already powerful blaze that was created regarding Sullivan's future.



Kevin Weekes went on to post a heavily cryptic tweet about Sullivan's future, but nothing came about it.



Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff threw some more gas onto the fire when he reported there was a disagreement between Mike Sullivan and Kyle Dubas over Reirden's firing.
