Penguins Analyst Gives Bad News on Future of the Team Without Jake Guentzel
No denying that it has been a rough season for the Penguins. But since a losing streak in early December, the Penguins have been playing good hockey. They are 12-5-4 over their last 21 games.
As the Penguins continue their climb up to gain a wild card position for the playoffs, their is the looming possibility that the team will have a shake-up very soon. Jake Guentzel is in his last season of his contract, and as of now it seems nothing has developed when it comes to signing him.Jake Guentzel Denies Any Reports About a Contract or Talks of One with Kyle Dubas
There have been many reports about Kyle Dubas and offering a contract to Guentzel and his camp that was not signed. Yet Guentzel himself has stated that no talks have occurred. One analyst believes that without Jake Guentzel the Penguins will not go very far at all.
NHL Network Analyst Bob Errey Believes the Penguins Need Guentzel
Bob Errey, former Penguins broadcaster and now analyst for the NHL Network believes whole-heartedly that the Penguins need to sign him.
«Are they going to make a move? They're going to have to sign Jake Guentzel," Errey said. "That's the move they're going to have to make. If you're going to win a Stanley Cup, you want Jake Guentzel in your lineup.»
Kyle Dubas Has Built the Penguins to Compete Now for a Championship
He also thinks that they have what it takes to make it to the playoffs and a good chance to go deep. He thinks they have what it takes now, with Guentzel and that Dubas has built this team already to compete for a championship.
«You're there to win, Dubas has been brought in for the Stanley Cup. To bring the Cup back to Pittsburgh. I think they have to make a move. They have games in hand right now.»
Dubas has talked about needing time to decide what to do with the current team. Based on the run they seem to be on now, they seem to be setting themselves up to be buyers by the trade deadline.
