Teams are always scavanging for a goalie, even contending teams, the price for a goalie is always going to be expensive, especially if that goalie is having himself a season. The Penguins must benefit from the expensive goalie market out there with one of their goalies.
The resurgence of Jarry should be a wake up call for Dubas
The Penguins are going to be golfing in May, it's quite clear with them being ten points off a wildcard spot, and Bryan Rust out for long term all with the Penguins forward Jake Guentzel set to be dealt in the next week, things are going downhill in Pittsburgh. Their diamond in the rough this year is goaltender Tristan Jarry, who currently leads the league in shutouts with 6 and holds a .912 save percentage on a struggling team. Jarry, just recently signed an extension for another five years, which could intrigue buying teams to add an elite top 10 goalie this season who is proven to be a number one with some term. The Penguins would most definitely fetch a haul.
According to insider Elliotte Friedman, a trade involving one of the Penguins goalies is not ridiculous, after saying the following in the 32T podcast:
They've got [Tristan] Jarry and [Ales] Nedeljkovic at the NHL level. They've got a really good prospect in Joel Blomqvist, who's having a good year in the American Hockey League.» Pittsburgh isn't necessarily focusing on trading either goalie, but interest among other teams is rising.
It makes perfect sense for the Penguins with Jarry who is only getting older and the Penguins seem like their contending window is essentially over, and with the arrival of Joel Blomqvist, the Penguins seem to be in good hands between the pipes for the future.
