The Pittsburgh Penguins are heading into the start of year two with Kyle Dubas as the GM and as they look to get younger these core guys and players will remain.

Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang

No matter what happens this off-season one thing is a guarantee as long as they want it. Kris Letang, Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby are not going anywhere. Crosby is expected to sign an extension, this off-season keeping him as a Penguin. In fact, this past season was the first time that the core three all played in 82 regular season games together.

Erik Karlsson and Marcus Pettersson

The two on the blueline that will also be guaranteed to be staying put for next season are Karlsson and Pettersson. The Swedish duo showed great chemistry together and they will both be moving on the play in the World Championships hopefully expanding on that chemistry. With a hopefully new look on the power play coming showcasing Karlsson and Pettersson's solid defensive play, these two will solidify a top 1 or 2 defensive line.

Bryan Rust with honorable mention, Michael Bunting

Rust may not be considered a core guy, but he has been a solid forward and leader for the Penguins. In a bounce back year that had him playing less games (62) he was able to score 56 points, 28 goals and assists. Rust does a lot in the community to show his leadership and help with initiative 'seats for strength'.

Michael Bunting was a very pleasant surprise bringing some grit to the second line paired with Malkin and a good net front presence.

Head Coach Mike Sullivan

With a 99% chance he is going nowhere and with the support of the core players on the team, Sullivan will remain as HC. He will get new assistants to work with, as well as members from the AHL affiliate to come up with ideas on improvements.
