Trade finalized between the Penguins and Columbus Blue Jackets

The trade that send Alex Nylander to the Columbus Blue Jackets for Emil Bemstrom has been finalized as we close in on the last game of the season

Back on February 22nd, the Penguins and the Blue Jackets swapped players, with Nylander going to Columbus for center Emil Bemstrom. Part of that deal was a conditional 2026 draft pick.

With the final game for the Penguins tonight, and Bemstrom ruled out for tonight's game, we now know what the Penguins 2026 draft pick will be that goes to Columbus.




The Penguins were giving Columbus a draft pick based on the play of Bemstrom. He was to score at least 6 goals as a Penguin for the Blue Jackets to get an upgraded 2026 draft pick from 6th round to the 3rd round.




With Emil Bemstrom official out for tonight's game, we know that Columbus will be getting the 6th round pick from the Penguins in the 2026 draft.

Honestly, even if he did play, there was probably no chance he was going to score a hat trick tonight.

Bemstrom did contribute to the win against the Predators with a great shot to make the game 4-2. During that sequence it did appear that he was hurt during the play.



Alex Nylander on the other hand has played very well for Columbus over his 23 games he has 11 goals and 4 assists. He scored more goals in one game for Columbus then he did with the Penguins over one and a half seasons.
