Could Auston Matthews be traded following outstanding request for his next contract?

Rumor just surfaced concerning Auston Matthews requesting the biggest salary in NHL history. Star forward Nathan MacKinnon became the highest paid player in the league this summer, by signing his 8 years $100.8 million dollars deal, which is starting next season. Well, Matthews request is leaving MacKinnon contract in the dust, since he reportedly requested an outstanding 8 years, $15M extension, according to Nick Kypreos. This would be almost $2.5M more than what MacKinnon just got.

Problem is, with Toronto also having players like Tavares, Nylander and Marner, who all have big contracts, it's going to be really hard for the Maple Leafs to satisfy Matthews' request. And considering it's being such a huge one, they're certainly not going to hand it over.
