Head Coach Mike Sullivan roasts his own players during post-game interview
We have to admit it, tuesday night's game versus the Islanders was absolutely terrible for the Pens. They were outshot 43-20 and lost 5 to 1. After the game, Sullivan didn't hesitate to say this was the worst game his players have played this season.
During the second period, Sully tried shuffling the lines to find winning combinations, but it wasn't a success.
«After having a few days off like that, we wanted to simplify the game and play straight ahead. We did none of the above.»
We could give them all the excuses possible regarding the fact they just came back from the holidays break, so they played with less preparation than usual. But this is true for the Islanders too, and they certainly did not let the holidays break ruin their gameplay. Following the loss against the Canes on Dec. 22, the Pens needed to go harder because the metropolitan division is really tight. With Tuesday's desastrous loss, the Pens went from 3rd to 4th in the Metro division, and the Isles are now only one point away from the Pens.
