Watch: Ryan Whitney reveals his top-five hockey players of all time and there's a surprise in it!
Ryan Whitney is a retired Hockey Player who used to play for the Pens. He's now part of the Spittin' Chiclets podcast, alongside Paul Bissonnette and Mike Grinnell. During this week's episode, they had a discussion about whether Crosby is among the top 5 NHL players of all time or not. Here's Whitney's take:
Whitney revealed that everyone's top-five looks somewhat like this: Bobby Orr, Lemieux and Gretzky sharing the top-three in no particular order, and then Gordie Howe in the fourth position.
"I'm not taking Gordie Howe out, but I'm sliding Sid right there!"
Despite the fact he is a former teammate of Crosby, he made sure to mention he was being objective and that he let aside his experience and memories with Sid, he truly believes Crosby is among the top-five! He also mentioned he doesn't agree with people placing Ovechkin above Crosby, defending this idea with the fact Crosby has more cups, and around the same amount of points but in 180-ish less games played.
"And there's a bunch of people who argue «Ovechkin over Sid», for me, no way! ... Ovechkin's one of the 10 best players of all time, maybe the best goalscorer of all time, but give me Crosby everyday!"
