Tristian Jarry is among the Penguins who are being considered tradeable this off-season and with a decent cap hit, some teams may show interest in the veteran.
Last year Tristian Jarry signed a five-year deal running through the 2027-28 season assuming he would remain the starter throughout that time. His cap hit of $5.375 million a year puts him in the middle of the goaltending market, making him a good deal to take on for a team. With Joel Blomqvist and Alex Nedeljkovic both as prospects to join or continue to play at the NHL level, Jarry is expendable. Dubas said he expects Jarry to bounce back for the 2024-25 season, but that does not mean he is safe. At 29 years old and with 4 remaining years on his contract, these three teams may be the best option to trade Jarry to.

The Kings starting goalie, Cam Talbot, had a good year last year but at age 36 is nearing the end of his career. Both he and David Rittich have expiring contracts coming up. Their next option is 23-year-old Erik Portillo. The Kings look to be in the market for a goalie, so Jarry could be a nice fit. With their talented prospects in the system, it would help the Penguins get started on getting younger as well.
Montreal Canadians
The Canadians are in the middle of a rebuild, and currently they could use a starting goalie. Sam Montembeault is a decent back-up and as needed starter and this would be a perfect option for the Penguins. This is nothing either team has talked about, but as an option, it would let Jarry play in his home country for a competitive market.
Detroit Red Wings
The Wings are on the cusp of getting themselves in the playoffs as seen at the end of last season and could use a solid starter to help propel them. Jarry would be an excellent option. Ville Husso is signed for one more year in Detroit and has a similar story to Jarry. Flashes of excellence, with some inconsistencies.
It is also not lost on me that Nedeljkovic came to the Penguins after two years in Detroit, so why not offer them Jarry and take Husso for the one year getting Blomqvist and Ned locked in and ready as the duo for 2025-26 season.
This is mostly all speculation since the Penguins have not said anything about trading Tristian Jarry. But if they do look to move the veteran netminder, they should have multiple options available.
