Team Canada will head to Czechia for the 2024 IIHF World Championship, and while there's plenty of notable names on the team, there's one glaring omission.

A few months ago, it was reported that if the Pittsburgh Penguins missed the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Sidney Crosby would commit to Team Canada for the 2024 IIHF World Championships, but now, we officially know that's not true. On Friday, Team Canada announced their roster via social media, with No. 87 notably absent from the lineup;

It was confirmed by TSN's Darren Dreger a few weeks ago that Crosby was considering the offer to join Team Canada, but it appears as though he's officially turned it down.

Crosby is a Canadian icon, scoring one of the most iconic goals in hockey history back at the 2010 Winter Olympics, and while he's likely to be a part of the team heading to the Olympics again in 2026, he may be looking to get some extra rest in over the coming weeks.

The roster remains stacked with young talent such as Connor Bedard, Macklin Celebrini, Adam Fantili and many more, and while they'll still have a great shot at chasing gold, they'll do so without Crosby.
