Sidney Crosby Unhappy with the Direction of the Penguins
The Penguins sit ten points out of the Wild Card race, and they are on the verge of missing the playoffs for the second year in a row after a 16-season run. With all that, and the prospect of Jake Guentzel being traded very soon, Sidney Crosby is reportedly unhappy.Deep NHL insider indicated:
"Sid's not gonna like it if Guentz is gone."

Crosby Still Productive at 36 Years Old and Ready to Continue to Compete
Crosby has been a bright spot on the team, and at 36 years old is still producing at a very high level. He has 32 goals this season and 63 total points entering the final year of his contract next season.
There has been talk that one of the first things will be to get Crosby on a short-term extension in the offseason. But, what if the captain was not interested?
It does not look like things will get better soon for the Penguins. With the reports that Crosby is not happy losing one of his favorite linemates, maybe an extension is not something he will look for.
Crosby Has One Year Left on His Contract and Can Choose to Extend it in the Offseason
It doesn't sound likely that a player the caliber of Crosby will want to finish off his career on a team that is rebuilding. The only two teams that Crosby has links to are his childhood favorite Montreal Canadians or with his friend Nathan Mackinnon in Colorado. If the Avalanche can remain competitive after the final year of Crosby's deal and he chooses to go, that could be a final stop for one more chance at a Championship.
One the other hand, Crosby is the type of player that may want to finish his career the way Mario Lemieux did, as a Penguin for life. Which, to me, seems the more likely outcome.
