Everyone in the hockey world thought that the Pittsburgh Penguins would make the playoffs this season, and if you didn't you're lying.

After acquiring the reigning Norris Winner Erik Karlsson in the offseason from the San Jose Sharks, all signs pointed to the Penguins extending their contention for their aging core. Well unfortunately, it hasn't panned out, leading to their stock to fall drastically post deadline according to experts.

Penguins ranked 25th according to experts

According to a tweet made by Bleacher Report, the Pittsburgh Penguins are ranked 25th in the leagues power rankings, making them a bottom 10 team in the NHL. This list was made after the NHL trade deadline where they lost superstar Jake Guentzel to the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for a young package which many fans find underwhelming.

Its only going to get worse here in the Steel City as GM Kyle Dubas is expected to make many moves this summer involving some of their aging players in hopes of acquiring youth to solidify the team's future.

The playoff days are over in Pittsburgh and it is officially time to brace ourselves for a retool to better the future of the Pittsburgh Penguins organization
