Guess who's back in Edmonton with a grin on his face? Yep, it's Jesse Puljujarvi, and he's traded his old Oilers jersey for the Pittsburgh Penguins' colors. It's been over a year since he packed his bags for the Carolina Hurricanes, and now he's rolling into town alongside hockey heavyweights like Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. Yet we won't get to see that grin on the ice tonight for the Penguins have robbed fans of a heartwarming opportunity.

It hasn't been all smooth sailing lately for Puljujarvi. This past summer, he went under the knife for a major surgery on both his hips. They had to stick metal balls and cups in there. It was brutal.

It's been a hard-fought journey for the kid, returning to the NHL at just 25. He didn't even have a contract at the start of the year! Yet he hustled from an AHL deal to finally landing a spot with the big leagues in Pittsburgh.

Unfortunately, as excited as Oilers fans might've been to welcome the 2016 4th overall pick back and give him a proper send-off for his six years of service, the Penguins have him listed as a healthy scratch for the game. Talk about a missed opportunity for a heartfelt tribute.
