The Pittsburgh Penguins have needed a change if they want a proper rebuild. It looks like they are finally heading in that direction after it was recently announced that President Kevin Acklin cut several members from the team.
The Pittsburgh Penguins were just short of the playoffs this year but suffered due to the age of the team and the lack of fans in the stadium. Yet, it was just reported that the business operations team is in the midst of a massive overhaul after more than 20 members of their business operations staff have been removed from their posts. This includes several high-level executives who have been active with the team for ages."KDKA Sports has learned #Penguins have made more than 20 cuts to their business operations staff

Understanding that many Pittsburgh fans could be concerned, Acklin anticipated their reaction and issued a statement in hopes of assuaging their concerns.
"This season, we have taken time to evaluate our business operations and concluded that a restructuring was necessary, which included some difficult personnel decisions. While change is never easy, we believe our plans to reinvest and bolster critical areas of our organization will allow us to build on the high standard of excellence that our fans, players and partners have come to expect"
With a near-reset in their business operations staff, we can likely look forward to more fans at games. Hopefully, this will help the team perform well enough to return to the playoffs in the near future.
