The NHL coaching carousel is starting to begin with team's preparing themselves for the upcoming NHL season with two firings in the last week with the Sharks and Kraken both relieving their head coach's of their duties. Many are even calling for the end of head coach Mike Sullivan's long tenure in the Steel City.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have missed the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the second consecutive season, and the calls for coaching changes have never been louder as it is not what they have as expectations after making a huge splash to acquire Norris winner in Erik Karlsson in the month of August.

However, Rob Rossi of the Athletic stated that Sullivan can very well still be the head coach going into the 2024-25 NHL season.

«President of hockey operations and general manager Kyle Dubas spoke with Sullivan following the season,» Rossi writes. «Sullivan is loyal to his coaching staff and a believer in bringing it back in its entirety.»

It doesn't make sense to get rid of coach Sullivan just yet as he is just starting his three year contract extension with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
