Struggling Top 6 Forward Included as Potential Trade Option for Kyle Dubas

The Penguins showed some positive signs in the win over the Montreal Canadians last night at PPG Paints Arena. That is a good sign, but not a complete turnaround. In his press conference earlier this week, GM Kyle Dubas mentioned that he has had contact about multiple players on the team as we close in on the trade deadline.

Rickard Rakell Continues to Struggle and is Becoming a Top Possible Trade Option for the Penguins

Although Dubas has not mentioned him by name, Rickard Rakell is a Penguin who would be available to trade.




Dave Pagnotta of the Fourth Period recently wrote that Rakell has climbed his way into one of the top trade options, with Guentzel still at number one, and Reilly Smith.

Rakell Might Benefit From a Trade as Him Production Slips Tremendously Since Last Year

We have heard Smith's name before as an option. But Rakell could be an interesting trade. He is a top 6 forward, and although he has not produced this year with Pittsburgh, a change of scenery may help him. In his 42 games played, he has 5 goals and 16 assists. A far cry from his 60 points and 28 goals with the team last year.

If the Penguins do look to do some shaking up before the deadline, Rakell could be a good start and may fetch some prospects if not a starting forward.
