After a severe turnaround, the Pittsburgh Penguins are on the brink of punching their ticket to the playoffs! A 6-5 overtime victory against the Detroit Red Wings has catapulted them back into the Eastern Conference's second wild-card spot, inching them closer to postseason glory.
With three games left in the regular season, the Penguins could make their season finale against the New York Islanders, meaningless if things go their way. It sounds like a tall order, but a victory against the first-place Boston Bruins on Saturday, would put them in the perfect position to seal the deal.A win for the Penguins, coupled with losses for both the Red Wings and the Washington Capitals, would put Pittsburgh firmly in control. If that scenario plays out on Saturday, the Penguins must grab a single point in either of their last two games to secure their playoff berth.
However, taking down the Bruins won't be a walk in the park. They're fighting for something too; first in the Eastern Conference and the Presidents trophy. The b's can also clinch the Atlantic Division on Saturday with a win and a Panthers loss against the Buffalo Sabres.

Speaking of which, the outcome of that Lightning-Capitals 5:30PM ET clash will be crystal clear before the Penguins even hit the PPG Paints Arena at 7PM.
Meanwhile, the Red Wings are gearing up to face the Toronto Maple Leafs north of the boarder.
The Pens are sizzling with a 7-0-3 record in their last ten games, making them the hottest team in the NHL.
The Pittsburgh Penguins' last two games are at home against the Nashville Predators and on the road against the New York Islanders. If Saturday's stars align in their favor and they snag that crucial point against the Predators, they might just be able to kick back and relax on the Island.
