Last night Pittsburgh Penguins star forward Evgeni Malkin had the rare opportunity to play a game in front of his parents. After the game, he was asked about this opportunity and gave a wholesome answer.

The Covid-19 pandemic disrupted the life of everyone around the world. Some ended up with more trials and tribulations than others. Penguins center Evgeni Malkin had not had his parents at a game since before the pandemic. Last night that all changed when they came to Pittsburgh to see their son play.

After the game media members who knew that Evgeni Malkin had his parents in town asked him what it was like for them to be there. With a big smile on his face he confirmed that it has been a great experience.

Evgeni Malkin all smiles talking about Mom and Dad: "They come yesterday and they haven't been here since I think 2018 or '19. It's a long time ago, and it probably gives me a little more emotion, and it works, you know? I'm so mad they did not come in like, October or November."

He mentioned that he wished they would have come sooner. This comment comes in part due to the team and individual success he enjoyed during last night's game with them in attendance.

Evgeni Malkin and the Penguins shine with his parents in attendance

The Pittsburgh Penguins went up against the Columbus Blue Jackets last night. Both teams are outside of the playoff picture and looking to get momentum heading into the offseason. The Penguins would end up taking advantage of this game winning 3-1 with contributions from Evgeni Malkin scoring a pair of goals.

The Penguins now sit 7 points out of a playoff spot with just 10 games remaining in their season. After trading away star forward Jake Guentzel no one had predicted the Penguins to still be alive heading into the final 10 games of the season. While a playoff berth is virtually impossible having Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby playing well is never a bad thing.
