Tonight's NHL Entry draft provided an update on the Penguins 2024 NHL Entry Draft strategy.

As a part of the Erik Karlsson trade, the Penguins sent a conditional first round pick to the San Jose Sharks. However, the pick was top ten protected.

Since the Penguins pick officially is 14th, that means that it will go to the Sharks.

Pittsburgh's first-round pick (14th overall) in the 2024 NHL Draft officially goes to San Jose, per the Erik Karlsson trade conditions.

The Penguins can still end up with a first-round pick if Carolina advances to the Stanley Cup Final, per the Jake Guentzel trade conditions.

However, the Penguins still have a chance at a first round pick due to a condition from the Jake Guentzel trade, so stay tuned for that!
