Notable Players Missing from Today's Practice

The Penguins had a day off on Sunday after back-to-back games. Today in practice there were some noticeable absences from some forwards.

Two Noticeable Absences and One Expected from this Mornings Practice

Forwards Evgeni Malkin and Jansen Harkins were both not participating in today's skate. And, as expected, Noel Acciari was missing from the skate after he suffered a concussion.

Acciari though did have a solo skate before the practice, which is a great sign. Malkin did skate a bit on his own before practice but did not join his teammates to practice. Harkins left the game in the second period against Winnipeg and did not return in the third.

Malkin Has Missed His Second Practice with the Team Dating Back to Before This Weekend and Seems a Step Slower

Malkin did miss a prior practice before the back-to-back games in Minnesota and Winnipeg. That was a maintenance day for the veteran center. There is no word on there being any issues, but he could be dealing with a nagging injury.

In his last 10 games he has seemed a step slower, with only scoring 1 goal during that time.

Harkins has not found his fit on the team, in 35 games he has yet to score a goal and has just 4 assists.
