Although the Penguins didn't play on Friday, they experienced a significant jump in their playoff chances.

Yesterday the Penguins had the day off, but the other teams in the Wildcard race increased the Pens chances of getting in.

The Flyers, Capitals and Red Wings all lost last night and provided an excellent boost to the Penguins playoff hopes. After last night, the Penguins fate remains in their own hands.

Wow and just like that Detroit, Washington, Philly all lose in regulation. I feel like this is one giant prank. No chance everything is really going our way. 6 more games. Pens control their own destiny. Even if they don't make it, they were dead 2 weeks ago. What a journey.

According to the website moneypuck.com, the Penguins playoff chances jumped from 20% to 28.6%.

Nothing is for sure yet, but I certainly hope the Penguins keep it rolling. They've got a lot of tough teams to face, but the future is in their hands now.

Details to follow.
