The Pittsburgh Penguins and management brass haven't hinted at a full blown rebuild, but stated that they are not afraid of changing up the roster and getting young assets back. A Penguins reporter has presented a possible trade regarding one of Pittsburgh's "diamonds in the rough" in their disasterous 2023-24 season.

Pens reporter calls on Jarry trade

Mark Madden, Pens reporter has presented his case to selling and trading off Vezina candidate Tristan Jarry.

But that performance creates value, and several teams who fancy themselves Stanley Cup contenders lack a true No. 1 goalie: Carolina, Colorado, Edmonton, New Jersey and Toronto, for example. (A few of those teams are fooling themselves, by the way.)

Jarry might bring as much in a trade as Guentzel, maybe more.

He may be right, Jarry has finally found his groove and is in the middle of the pack between superstar and fringe superstar. When you're at that status, goaltending is not consistent, look at Igor Shertshkin, who is having an off year despite the superstar claims.

Jarry currently leads the league for most shutouts with an impressive count of 6.

And if Madden stands correct and Jarry can fetch a better return then superstar Jake Guentzel, Kyle Dubas should at the very least be picking up the phone and listening to offers.

The goalie carousel is desperate as team's are looking for a solidified number one goaltender, and are prepared to pay a hefty price.
