Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman talked about a trade that he came up with in his head. One that would reunite Karlsson with a former team. This concept that he thought up took off into major speculation on it becoming a reality.

Dubas Looking to Make Moves Before Trade Deadline and Karlsson Could be One of Them

Dubas in his press conference this week did reference that the team is almost out of time before the March 8th trade deadline. They need to show they can be a contender before then.

Karlsson won the Norris Trophy last season with the San Jose Sharks. Not only that, he was the first defenseman to reach 100 points since Brian Leech 1991-92. He was traded to Pittsburgh and still has three more years on his deal with a cap hit of $11.2 million.

Karlsson Was Not Opposed to Returning to Ottawa Before the Trade to Pittsburgh

Before he was traded, he did say that he would be willing to return to Ottawa.

But can this even be a reality, with the Senators needing to shed some salary for Karlsson, and Pittsburgh looking to get younger with more prospects.

Honestly, I would not be opposed to a Karlsson trade that frees up money to sign Guentzel.
