The Pittsburgh Penguins put up a great first period against the Nashville Predators, scoring four total goals with 20 shots. Too bad only two goals counted.

It was one of the Penguins best games of the year. They pounded the puck on Juuse Saros and seemingly were about to route the Predators. But during that time two of the four Penguin goals were called back for goaltender interference.

The first goal that was overturned was from Michael Bunting, playing like he does in the crease. He made a spectacular move between the legs, but the officials determined that he stepped on Saros stick, disallowing the goal.

The second goal was Kris Letang's, who had Lars Eller screening the goalie for his shot to make it past Saros. But immediately Saros called for a review and it was determined Eller prevented his stick from getting into position to attempt to stop Letang's shot.

When Sullivan was asked about the two no-goal calls, he had this to say.

«I thought the first one was a good call. I think the second one is anybody's guess. We can sit here all day long and debate it.»

With the Letang goal, it appeared that Saros was the one to initiate the contact with Eller.

Sidney Crosby also seemed to think that the Letang goal should have been a good goal.

«It would have been nice to have a three-goal lead instead of two."
Implying one of the goals was probably a good goal.

When asked from a goaltender's point of view, Alex Nedeljkovic had this to say.

«I don't want to get into that. We were in the blue paint If there's contact made, no matter how much or how little, I guess, as long as it's consistent. It's kind of a grey area.»

Luckily the Penguins were able to battle through, and still get the win over the Predators to keep their playoff hopes alive.
