Jason Zucker's has something extra these days that he didn't have during his final stint with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Well, it's an X. Not the kind you find on a treasure map, but the kind that signifies a team's ticket to the playoffs.

Currently suiting up for the Nashville Predators, Zucker is gearing up for a postseason run after missing out on the action last year when he was with the Penguins. Reflecting on the significance of making it to the playoffs, Zucker said,

That feels great. You play this game to get into the playoffs. Realistically, it doesn't matter how good you are, how bad you are. If you get in the playoffs, you have a chance.

Zucker's journey with the Penguins didn't pan out as everyone hoped. Despite high hopes when he was traded from the Minnesota Wild in 2020, the Penguins fell short in the playoffs for three consecutive seasons. Even a strong performance by Zucker in the 2022-23 campaign couldn't save the day, and the Penguins missed the playoffs altogether.

When it came time for Zucker to re-sign with the Penguins potentially, things took an unexpected turn.

I had every intention of coming back here. That was my only option, and it was a phone call that I never got.

Instead, Zucker signed a one-year deal with the Arizona Coyotes, citing limited options due to the pandemic's economic impact. Despite facing challenges, Zucker has found his game with the Nashville Predators, contributing to their run for a maiden Stanley Cup.

Now, back in the playoff mix, Zucker is relishing the opportunity and feeling good about his game. It's a fresh start in Nashville, and he's ready to make the most of it.
