It feels like every year there is a need to bring back Fleury to the Penguins. Ever since the draft to the Golden Knights, where we all knew they would take the unprotected flower from us, we wanted him back.
If Marc-Andre Fleury feels like he has one more good year left in the tank, he's a perfect target for the Penguins this upcoming offseason. #LetsGoPenshttps://t.co/KHx8XMXN1B Inside the Penguins (@InsidePenguins) February 13, 2024
Now Could Be the Perfect Time to Bring Fleury Back to the Penguins
It seems like now is the time to possibly bring him back. With both teams seasons being uncertain, and Fleury is in the last year of his contract, the Wild might try to trade him to give him another shot at the playoffs. But this is not where the Penguins fit into this equation.
This year the talk has been around trying to make the playoffs, but truly it could be a rebuild that is on the horizon. Jarry has played pretty amazing hockey this season, but so has Alex Nedeljkovic.
Nedeljkovic has played well enough to possibly earn himself a starting role in the NHL next year, with another team. So, in steps the need for a solid backup goaltender. Now this is where the Penguins can try to call upon Fluery to see if he has one more year in him to play with Crosby, Letang and Malkin once more.

Fleury's Age Could Be a Factor in Where He Would Want to Finish His Career
Fleury has recently turned 39-years-old, making him the one of the oldest players in the game, and the oldest netminder. He would turn 40 during the 2024-25 season, making that his possible last ride. Getting him for one more year on the cheap to finish his career where it all started is not out of the question.
Fleury has not had the greatest season this year with a 9-9-3 record, coupled with a 2.91 goals against average, and a .900 save percentage. But who isn't down to see one more year of the Flower in net for the Penguins. And who knows, maybe it will revitalize him finishing it all where it started.
