A rough stretch of games has plagued the Pittsburgh Penguins in recent weeks. With the selling done at the trade deadline, it becomes hard to believe in this group. Today Sidney Crosby spoke about the slide the team has been on and how they get back on track.
Penguins Struggles Continue Into The Final Weeks Of The Season
In their last 7 games, the Pittsburgh Penguins have dropped 6 of them. This is an all-time low rarely seen if ever in the Sidney Crosby era with the Pittsburgh Penguins. With this insane slide happening the Penguins made several changes. The biggest was the offloading of pending free agent Jake Guentzel to Carolina. Guentzel will be making his debut with Carolina tonight.
With Guentzel gone and the season all but lost the Penguins are looking to end their season with some pride. This was the topic of conversation for captain Sidney Crosby as he talked to the media today.
Crosby Addresses The Penguins Recent Poor Play
In an interview with the Pittsburgh media Sidney Crosby spoke about his team's rough stretch. He says the quiet part out loud that the team is in a difficult spot and dropping points the way they have has made their job even harder.
Sidney Crosby, on this stretch: "It's tough. I mean, given our position and knowing how important points are, you don't want to lose games... but especially the way that we have, it's not easy."
Despite it not being easy Crosby and the Penguins are not giving up. Crosby has a hopeful mindset and is focused on the next game and getting things back on track.
Sidney Crosby, on this stretch: "But we've got to find a way to get through it here, get a win, and hopefully put a few together. It starts with one. We got to get that one and go from there."
With the number of games remaining starting to get down incredibly low the odds for the Penguins to be playing postseason hockey look bleak. This will not stop Crosby and the Penguins from giving fans everything they have until the final horn of game 82.
