Sidney Crosby is the face of hockey in Pittsburgh, and for what seemed like the first time in his career, that was in jeopardy this trade deadline. Now, he has revealed where he wants to retire as his contract is set to expire this offseason.
Sidney Crosby Involved in Several Trade Deadline Rumors This Year
This year's deadline was one of the first, in at least recent history, where there seemed to be a non-zero chance that Sidney Crosby could be traded from the Penguins. The trade of Jake Guentzel officially marked Kyle Dubas' intent to rebuild the team, entering them into a new era.
With Crosby's new contract coming up, and pending retirement soon after that, there were several rumours that he could potentially be traded at the deadline.

According to a good source he gave three teams he'd be ok with IF they approached him about a trade now or offseason #Leafs #Avalanche on the list.. nobody said Leafs would acquire him today or tmrw but they're on his list IF they wanted to get serious.
It's nearly impossible to imagine Crosby in another jersey other than the Penguins. Luckily, that did not happen this year, and now the remaining question is whether Kyle Dubas can sign Crosby to what will likely be his last NHL contract.
Crosby Reveals He Would Like to Retire in Pittsburgh After Heated Deadline Rumors
Crosby, being the team-first guy he is, has said he wants to do what is best for the organization in the past. However, he has just confirmed in an interview that he would like to retire as a Penguin. That should take some of the weight off Pens fans' shoulders, knowing that their Captain wants to play for just one team for the entirety of his career.
"I'm not thinking about my next contract right now, but yes, I've always said it: I want to finish my career in Pittsburgh. But right now, I'm focused on trying to make the playoffs." - Sidney Crosby
Now, Kyle Dubas will have to earn his keep in Pittsburgh, signing the face of hockey in the City to his last deal in the NHL.
