It hasn't been a season to remember for veteran and long time Penguin Evgeni Malkin. The production has been solid, but his play hasn't been at the level he's been playing on in recent years and he knows it himself. In a media conference, he addresed how he is struggling this season.
Malkin trying to find ways to sharpen up game
Evgeni Malkin was his usual candid self talking about his play.
"I'm not playing like (I was) 15 years ago. It's not the same game. I want to try to change a little bit. I know I'm not, like, flying like before. I'm trying to play smart, be a little bit smarter with my game."

Malkin, has 41 points in 49 games this season, on pace for 70. Not bad numbers for the 37 year old, but it is important to look at his overall play and not just plain stats. It is clear Malkin took a step back this season, which is understandable as the game keeps involving and Malkin never had that quickness in his feet in the first place. Players are getting more skilled and quicker, all Gino has to do is adjust his play.
