Former Capital Chris Simon suddenly passes away at the age of 52

The Hockey world has just received tragic news today involving a former NHL player who played for the Pittsburgh Penguins rivals, the Washington Capitals.

Chris Simon tragically passes away at 52



Former NHLer Chris Simon has tragically passed away today at the young age of 52 years old.

Selected 25th overall during the 1990 NHL draft by the Philadelphia Flyers. The enforcer played 782 NHL games scoring 144 goals, 305 points and gather an impressive 1,824 penalty minutes. Simon played for the Quebec Nordiques, Colorado Avalanche, the Pittsburgh Penguins' rivals, the Washington Capitals, Chicago Blackhawks, New York Rangers, Calgary Flames New York Islanders and Minnesota Wild.


Hearing former NHL tough guy Chris Simon has taken his own life. Another enforcer lost to suicide and possibly CTE. But let's keep fighting in the sport /s.



The player reportedly lost his life due to suicide which may have been caused due to CTE, a common injury for hockey enforcers.

Everyone here at Penguins Latest wishes his family and friends the deepest of condolences for such a tragic loss.
