Capitals Tom Wilson takes liberties with Rangers Zibanejad in Game 1

Capitals enforcer Tom Wilson is know for his less than clean play and he showed off that reputation against the New York Rangers in Game One at MSG

It started in the second period with the Rangers up 3-1. �The Capitals were on a powerplay, and Chris Kreider put the puck behind Washington's goal where John Carlson got the puck under control.

Mika Zibanejad happened to also be behind the net so Wilson decided to drop him.

The second hit did not come to long after, with both teams playing for the puck. After the puck was clearly elsewhere, Wilson once again dropped Zibanejad.



You can argue that Wilson was holding his ground on Zibanejad, as he did not make any attempt to move, but clearly shot up with his shoulder and laid a hit on him.

It is no surprise that the game ended with a scuffle when the Rangers had the game in hand with a minute left in the third period.



Both Tom Wilson and Rangers defenseman Braden Schneider earned game misconducts for starting this may lay.

Game 2 is set for Tuesday night, again at MSG where we will wait and see if there will be any further retaliations.
