In a post-game interview, Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan unveiled the reason behind Sidney Crosby's absence at the start of overtime during the game against the Leafs, which ended in a 3-2 loss for Pittsburgh. The crucial defeat kept the Penguins out of the second wild card spot, with four games left.

Sullivan explained that Crosby encountered a skate issue, which prevented him from starting overtime on the ice. Instead, Lars Eller took the opening faceoff for the Penguins. Despite Crosby's absence, the Penguins battled hard but ultimately fell short in overtime against the Leafs.

With only four games left in the regular season, the Penguins find themselves in a tight race for playoff positioning. They are currently tied with the Detroit Red Wings in points but have a game in hand.
They also trail the New York Islanders by just one point for third place in the Metropolitan Division.

The setback against the Leafs highlights the importance of every game as the Penguins fight for their spot in the postseason. Crosby's skate issue serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of hockey and the challenges teams face in their pursuit of victory.

As the regular season winds down, every point becomes crucial for the Penguins as they strive to secure a playoff berth and make a deep postseason run.
