Malkin Makes Tough Admission About His Play Recently As He Starts to Feel His Age
Evgeni Malkin has shown some wear and tear recently. The Penguins center has had two maintenance days off from practice this week and talked to reports after the skate this morning. He expressed his disappointment with his performance as of late. He admitted that he feels age is catching up to him."Every game I try my best"
he stated to reporters this morning.«I'm not playing like 15 years ago. It's not the same game. I want to try to change a little bit. I know I'm not flying like before. I try (to be) a little bit smart(er) in my game.»
"I'm trying to play smart... I want to be better on the power play, help the team, of course to score every game."
While Evgeni Malkin is still a force at age 37, he's continuing to adjust his game in order to find success.

Tonight the Penguins face a tough oppenent in the Florida Panthers. They need to make up some valuable points to be a contender for the playoffs and avoid being sellers at the trade deadline.
Malkin still ranks 3rd on the team with 41 points and 16 goals this season. He has received some difficult criticism from both fans and insiders alike regarding his slow play on the ice, and defensively in front of his goalie.
Mike Sullivan Weighs in on Malkin's Recent Play and Conversations They Have Had About It
When head coach Mike Sullivan was asked about Geno's game play he had this to say;
«We have seen Geno try and make adjustments to his game, and I think there have been moments when he's really good at it. That's a conversation that him and I have had over the last little while. He's still an elite player in this league. He still has the ability to drive a lot of offense, and we certainly want him to continue that aspect. But he's played a lot of games in this league. He has a lot of experience. I think it's important that he use that experience to play a more efficient game and make it easier on himself.»
The Penguins are currently 7th in the Metropolitan Division with 53 points. They have 33 games left as they sit 7 points out of a wild card spot. With some key matchups still left with division rivals, the Penguins and Malkin will need to get things figured out quickly to make any playoff position.
